Ed hannigan BIO

Ed Hannigan was born and raised in London England and his very first recording was at the early age of 18 months singing into his parent's cassette player (still has it today) he got his first guitar aged 3, his first electric at 7, and performed his first gig in front of an audience at the age of 10 but his professional music journey began at the age of 14 learning to program drum machines and recording songs on a Tascam 4 track machine, playing with older musicians and recording his first 4 track EP at the age of 16.

Wanting to take his recording aspirations further he went to college and also for interviews at various London-based recording studios and got lucky joining an amazing bunch of people at Red Bus Studios in London's West End in 1992 at the age of 17 where he got to watch first hand how chart-topping producers and artists work.

His first two sessions as an assistant engineer was in week one and week two on the Right Said Fred album 'UP' with producer Tommy D who went on to work with Kanye West, KT Tunstall, Rita Ora, Madonna, Noel Gallagher, and many more, Ed's second session was with Martyn Ware from Human League and Heaven 17 fame and during his time he also got to work with many other great producers and artists along the way such as Tom Allom ( judas priest, Loverboy, Def Leppard, Black Sabbath ) and Malcolm McLaren ( Sex Pistols )

After 2 years of learning his craft as an assistant engineer and being a session musician, Ed decided to go out into the live arena and tour with bands of various sizes in both an engineer and musician capacity clocking up over 4000 gigs in over 10 countries around the world up till today.

This experience has helped Ed to be able to understand both sides of the business, how a musician thinks and also what's expected in order to create, craft and record and great song or album
